
New nuts and bolts can always be fitted to a restoration but sometimes odd sized bolts and one off brackets from the motorcycle manufacturer can become obsolete over time and it can also be hard to find NOS parts.
Replating these items along with spokes and brackets as shown in the picture is quite often a prefered route to go down as it can be more cost effective provided the items to be plated are not worn.
Corrosion is an issue and if left for some time can give the part a pitted feel and look.

Like many other coating processes the quality of the finish is entirely dependant on the quality of the part to begin with.
